Experienced Excavator Operator with Hammer US-PA-Birdsboro Job ID: 2024-2535 Type: Regular Full-Time Category: Quarry Birdsboro Quarry Overview Birdsboro Quarry, a division of H&K Group, Inc., is looking for an Excavator Operator! Experience with a 330 excavator with a hammer is not required but definitely a plus! The ideal candidate is energetic, motivated, experienced, and carries out work safely. Why work for H&K Group, Inc.? - Competitive salary commensurate with experience - 100% Company-paid Health Benefits - 401(k) Savings and Investment Plan - Tuition reimbursement programs available to qualifying employees for approved programs - Additional training programs including on the job, online through H&K Academy, manufacturer offered training, and more Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Performs all work according to MSHA and H&K Safety policies - Perform pre and post trip of equipment every day and fill out daily inspection sheets - Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel/moves joysticks/levers to operate heavy equipment including excavator with hammer - Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and drives front end loader forward to force bucket into finished product - Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled and dumps material into truck or rail - Provide excellent customer service to all customers on site - Maintains haul roads that are smooth and safe - Keep stockpiles properly bermed and maintained - Ensure product is blended correctly - Performs routine maintenance on equipment such as lubricating and cleaning - When not operating equipment, will help with labor work around the quarry - Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required Skills, Education, and Experience - One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school OR six months of related experience and/or training - Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered - Able to pass practical skills test for excavators and loaders - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions - Problem solving - Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed - Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job) Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience - Two years of related experience and/or training - Experience and practical skills for other heavy equipment - Strong preference for experience and practical skills with a 330 excavator with hammer and loader - Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries - OSHA or other relevant safety certifications Physical Demands - Frequently required to - Sit - Use hands to finger, handle, or feel - Reach with hands and arms - Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl - Talk or hear - Occasionally required to - Stand, walk, climb, and balance - Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds - Specific vision abilities include distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Work Environment - Regularly exposed to - Outside weather conditions - Vibration - Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles - Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts - Noise level is usually loud H&K Group, Inc. provides complete heavy civil contracting and construction materials solutions with safety, speed, quality, efficiency, and value.
